We have been developing and publishing games for various platforms since 1998, when the company was founded by game developers Marek Nepožitek and Lukáš Macura—both of whom already had several years of experience in game development and production. The first game title from Cinemax Games was the adventure game In the Shadow of the Raven, released by the studio in 1999. At the turn of the millennium, we focused primarily on PC/Windows and started developing several mid-sized and larger game titles, some of which we developed independently, while others were completed in collaboration with their original developers. Over the next decade, we released games such as Necromania: Trap of Darkness, Daemonica, Evil Days of Luckless John, Gumboy Crazy Adventures, State of War 2: Arcon, Gumboy Tournament, Numen: Contest of Heroes, and finally the extensive RPG Inquisitor.

Since 2003, alongside game development, we have also been involved in localizing foreign titles into Czech, producing them, and distributing them in the local market. Over 13 years, we brought Czech players gems like Red Faction 2, Painkiller, TrackMania, X2, X3, Earth 2160, Jagged Alliance 2, Knight Shift, and Two Worlds, among 130 PC games.

The trend at the end of the first decade was clear—transitioning to online distribution without physical media, without major publishers, and releasing games as quickly as possible. With the rise of the iOS platform, we initially began developing titles for the iPhone and iPad, where we were among the first developers to use Unreal technology in the game Gyro 13: Steam Copter Arcade. Another platform that offered space for independent developers was Nintendo, and we started developing for Nintendo DSi, later Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo Switch. We created not only various smaller games such as Sokomania, Decathlon 2012, and Puzzle Rocks, but also the RPG The Keep, and most notably, a multi-platform music creation app series called Rytmik. This creative tool first saw the light of day on the handheld Nintendo DSi, later allowing users to exchange and present their created tracks online across platforms like Nintendo 3DS, iPad, and PC/Mac. After years of development, this tool has matured into its pinnacle version, Rytmik Studio, which is currently available for Windows and macOS.

Even in our third decade, we continue to seek the optimal path from original game ideas to players, working on announced projects like Automatica,The Liftboy and Brahman: The Gate of Salvation, developing yet-to-be-announced prototypes, and publishing games in collaboration with amazing indie developers such as KO.DLL and his game BZZZT (Steam, Nintendo eShop).

Our most recent release is Zerun, a 3D puzzle platformer that combines mystical atmosphere with challenging gameplay. It marks another step in our journey of blending experimental mechanics with strong narrative worlds. You can find Zerun and all our current projects in the GAMES section.
